Probing question: things to ponder
We all know that probing is perhaps the most reliable way to sex snakes. I have to wonder about the first guy who ever probed snakes. What could have possibly made him think, "Hmm, I wonder what happens when I stick this little metal thing in there?"

im sure that during snake dissections they realized that the hemipenal pockets were different in males and females, and eventually they figured, heck.

Just stick a metal rod up there and see how far it goes.
