New Rhino Raxx .......
Im thinking about buying this new rhino raxx system ...
I would be keeping a couple of cali kings , a couple of corns and a red tail or two ...
with the double thermostat the price would be $609.00.....
What do you think ?
would this make a nice place for my collection and would it be escape proof?
would you recommend something else????
Ive always had glass fish tanks but im looking for something different...
here is the link to the one i want...

looks ok for the corns and kings....and the boas while they are small but 200 bucks for a thermostat? Personally, I like the way rheostat/dimmers work better. I never have liked the idea of controling temps by constant cutting on and off of the heat source. I prefer a constant adjustable heat.

We have been using the boaphiles racks since he started making them. I can tell you this they are escape proof and well constructed they are a little pricey but well worth the investment. Here is a current pic of our snake room.
You can also find a review we wrote on Boaphile Plastics at the link below. Hope this helps ya out.

I don't really think you will need any of Jeff thermostats for just the one rack. You only need 1 plug in for all 6 cages. Buy the $30 dollar one from Big Apple. But when you have as many cages as we do from Jeff it is more cost effective to plug 6 racks into 1 thermostat. Still at that the double thermostat is not really neccessary. I hate the constant running dimmer switchs though they are notorious for failure and burn up heat tape way to fast. But hey thats just my opinion!!!!

I've never had a dimmer switch burn up heat tape or heating pad or anything. *shrug*

We just replaced a couple of ours last week. We had one burn out and if we hadn't caught it we probably would have lost some or all of our babies. When we got to checking our others we had two more that just weren't working. Granted they were a few years old, but we went ahead and replaced them anyway. Mark thanx for the comments we appreciate it. Keep with it and you'll get there. We didn't do it over night. We're still not where we want to be yet either.

What kind of dimmers were you using? I've had those cheap little zoomed dimmers go out too. But the ones from Lowes or home depot that you wire up yourself like you would a ceiling fan or a room light, I've yet to ever wear one of those out. And I would much rather have constant temps than a thermostat kicking in making it go full blast -cold-full blast-cold-full blast-cold all the time. Stop buying petstore dimmers lol

We haven't used those cheapo things for years. We wired them up ourselves and yes we did it right lol. Alot of people use them with no problems. We know of a few people personally that have had problems with them to. By all means if they work for you use them. It's just hard to trust them when you've had a close call with them.
