I made a cage like what you are asking for. I was cleaning a 10gl tank and broke the bottom out of it. So I cleaned up all the glass and put it in the closet. As fate would have it I bought a Jungle Carpet Python. (light bulb) I took the "broken" 10gl and stacked it on top of another 10gl and wrapped black duct tape around the the seam to keep them together. Keep in mind I kept the plastic edging on the broken 10gl. Here's a quick pic of it. I don't have this tank anymore. I don't remember what I did with it after my jungle grew out of it.

ok..take to normal aquariums (glass tanks) cut the top and bottom plastic strips around the top about 4 inches back on the front and back...that'll expose the end glass repeat this step on the opposite side of the other tank...you should have about eaight inches of exposed glass once you butt the two up.... use the ends that you cut out (the plastic part) to make a new strip covering the exposed glass and spanning across both tanks. this requires alittle ingenuity. once you have the cages butted together and all the glass (top and bottom) covered with the plastic stripping use non-toxic but water proof adhesive caulking (check your local hardware store or lowes ect.) doubt the local pet store will carry it..tell them you need something to re-caulk your fish tank... then all you have to do is caulk all the seems..and re-caulk the plastic strips..lt it dry and make sure it's solid..if not apply more caulk..It must be adhesive caulk and something strong...I have done this...
i no longer have the tank...but it works....once you get the plastic off the tank you'll see how it's put together..it's not hard to figure out. believe it or not those plastic strips around the tank are basically what hold it together...that and strong adhesive caulk...

The problem with putting them together like that is you expand the length of the enclosure but not the depth. That in itself is limiting. What, may I ask, are you using this setup for?

Yea, Ive built my own. I just have some extra glass terarriums laying around and though I might just put them side by side and save some money.
