My, my! Can't believe how many people had view points on this subject! As for counseling, that would be great, I know I've been through a lot. JBut, he refuses to go because there is nothing wrong with him! As for the time I spend with my reptiles and not him, there is none! He is a truckdriver who is home three days a week. I always make sure my snakes and other reps are fed, clean and watered while he is home so, he can't #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& about any time I spend with them. Of, course I take care of two of his children ( I don't have any) work six days a week take care of an eleven room house, an acre of land, do all the house work, take care of all his legal problems, do all the carpentry, plumbing ect... Five years ago when I sold my first house and bought this one I also found pictures and letters where he had been having an affairs with his ex-wifes mother ,aunt, cousin and his brothers girlfriend. That was just lovely! I ended up having a nervous breakdown and having months of counseling. He always teases me by saying he'll give me a divorce but the two times I"ve filed he has fought me so that it has added up to 6000.00 so far. I really believe if I got rid of all the reptiles it would just be something else like he screams at me for being a democrate. He told me that he can't be married to a democrate. I think I will get a donkey mask and wear it all the time while he is home. I actually had to have the police come to my home and take inventory of my animals and they told him if he touched any of them he would be arrested for animal cruelty. I do believe he will not bother them since he already did some time for animal cruelty and shooting at me. So, I don't think trying to talk with him again would work. I'm not whining cause I am actually a very happy person, I work with developmentally disabled adults which is great, my stepchildren are great, I have a beautiful home, lots of friends, a wonderful family, beautiful animals, and a lot of hobbies beside my herps. I'm going to keep on happy herpin no matter what he says. And it is not buying herps that makes him mad. I haven't bought any herps for a year and the babies I have sold have paid for any I have bought plus paid some of his bills. Anyhow, I'm not going to write any more about this, I'm sure it is getting old and annoying. But, thanks to everyone for the input.

Nightcat.... It looks as if he won't leave because you pander to him too much. I've been in that situation and it is no picnic. You could do SO much better!! You have no idea of the bliss you could be experiencing with a man that really cares.

yeah i think that's a bad idea...on the male side you wouldn't want your snake to try and eat your snake..on the female side i don't think you'ld want your snake to find a new "hiding Hole"...

I'm deninately not in the same boat as you. Just about me being the only one who is envolved with the reptiles. I also get grief about my growing hobby.
The problems that you have are MUCH different than what I deal with.
I'd tell him to hit the road. He has much deeper issues that do not concern you!!!!!!!!!!!!If you cannot trust the person you are married to you need to move on.

Other than that...lol if he cant come to terms with your love of herps then he needs to put up and shut up, or just get the heck out. He obviously is insecure if he has to go and complain about one little thing that you do. ONE thing out of how many others?? Seriously. If your hubby is going to flip out over a snake, even though you're more than capable of caring for it, then there's something more that's bothering him. Maybe he's picking arguement because its a way for him to hide something. Does he get defensive alot when you asking stupid questions? Or does he constantly ignore you and the only time he really pays attention is when he's arguing? Its really pathetic to make you choose between your snakes n him. Only someone who's got their own guilt to hide has issues.

Oh and the whole affair thing with his ex-wife's family...ok only someone with that kind of mentality needs help...finding that kind of stuff around, should be a red flag to get out before it's too late. You said he drives a truck...what says he's not doing anything behind your back now? He could be. then again, he might not. But I wouldnt even take the chance.

Sweetheart, dont let him fight the divorce papers, especially if he's got a criminal record from animal cruelty charges, #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& shooting at you shouldve been the last straw!! I wouldnt let my bf get away with that, and his butt would be on the curb. If you are truely unhappy with him (though other aspects of your life are great) then get away from him, do whatever you need to do. If he thinks nothing's wrong with him, then there is something wrong and pushing him to go to counseling isn't going to help matters. It seems to me that rather being unhappy, your more scared of him than anything, because of his past.

I really hope it goes better for you hun. oh and the whole democrat thing.. he can kiss our democratic booties!!!
