Need Common Snake Misconceptions for a Speech!
Hello Everyone!
I am doing a speech tomorrow on how to prepare for/select/care for Boa Constrictors. It was suggested to me that I add into it some of the common snake misconceptions (myths) to help people who fear them be less afraid.
Now some I can think of right off are:
1- Boa Constrictors get big enough to eat a human -now I know some snakes can reach a size capabale of that, but the typical BCI wouldn't.
2- Snakes only eat live prey -we all know the truth behind this one.
Would you all help me think of more??! Maybe list your top 3. I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks for your help, I will certainly mention your info in my speech, and credit you all for it
Cathy

1. They are slimy.
2. They are all "poisonous"
3. It doesn't hurt when they bite you

A popular thought is that Boas & pythons constrict people just cuz they feel like it. I get asked all the time "why isn't he constricting you?"

"snakes don't drink..."
&
"snakes will chase you..."
I hear these two all the time unfortunately.

One of my favorites is the Hoop Snake one... where a snake will takes it's tail in it's mouth and roll down a hill chasing people like a big hoop

I sadly get one question alot of the time, I am sure you may not use it, but I come from a very dense area where EVERYONE believes the only good snake is a dead snake
All snakes are Venomous (Same goes with salamanders as well)
