Well I am here in Frederick Maryland.......
Home of the sky high rent..............LOUSY HOUSING................
and real strict gun rules.......

My snakes are doing fine.....all boxed up in the hotel room.
Been living in the hotel room for a week.
Gonna live here in the hotel room for another week.
Luckily no snake has pooped in their boxes yet.
They are all plugged in to heating pads. (I knew I liked those things)

frederick Maryland believes in Townhomes. They are so TINY.
And even though they are so tiny.....they want $1000 to $1400 for as three bedroom with a 5 x 10 foot backyard.

Well me and the missus finally found a decent home with a decent backyard...IN a very nice neighborhood. it was only $1225........the army is going to give me a maximum $833. I have to come up with the rest......plus come up with alll the utilities as well. Electricity, trash, water, cable, internet, etc etc etc.
what happened to the free housing everyone says military people get? I do not see it.... I thought someone says we get paid too much?

To top it all off.....I was a concealed weapons permit holder in SC.
I went to the Sheriff's dept. here......they said I have to go to the state police.....I went to the State Police....they said I had tobe a
1. business owner= and show a cash flow. and bank statements. and have the bank write a note atesting to my cash flow.
or
2. be a doctor lawyer etc. etc. etc
or
3. be a cop or a retired cop
or
4. have proof that I have been threatened or assaulted lately....with police reports as proof. ( even then it is not guaranteed..)yippe...they wanna wait till I am jacked up before I can carry This State sucks!!!

In arizona...anyone can carry as long as they are not felons etc etc. Plus it has to be in plain sight.....so the cops can see it.
When you do wanna carry conceiled in AZ......that is the only time you apply for a conceaeld weapons permit.

I told the wife...I am gonna get arrested here in Maryland for carrying my guns.....It will be a big court battle...I am gonna get the NRA involved. Mazryland laws are in violation of my constitutional rights. Therefore...they are unconstitutional....
Therefore...I expect a lenghty court battle. But I also expect MILLIONS...

So should I do it?

okay i am done ranting and raving

Man I know what you mean about the housing. Alaska is just as bad. They want more than I would get for my BAQ for a one bedroom appt. Try buying groceries up there to. And snakes forget about it. Kansas is not to bad on the price but you have to live in crappy run down places. And people wonder why we don't reup.

As for carrying your guns I don't reccomend it. You can read articles in magazines for days about people getting busted with them. Then you can't even own a gun if you do. Technically they're not violating your rights (or so the supreme court thinks). There has already been court hearings on the matter. I know it sucks but you have to play by there rules.

One good thing about Alaska is there is no waiting period and everyone carries. Most of them concealed. You'll be fishing on the river and see an eight year old kid with a 454 casull. I knew all them bears were good for something.

Ritchie, be smart, don't carry. I know it sucks, but if you get caught you will never be able to own a gun again. The more people that get caught doing something illegal with a gun (including carrying), the more fuel the anti-firearm idiots will have. If you really want to carry something to protect yourself, get some pepper mace. That way if it gets turned against you, you won't get killed.

</BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>

On 12 November, Ms Cindy Williams (from the Laverne and Shirley TV
show) wrote a piece for the Washington Times denouncing the pay
raise(s) coming service members' way this year-citing that the stated
13% wage gap was bogus. A young airman from Hill AFB responds to her
article below. He ought to get a bonus for this!

Ms. Williams:

I just had the pleasure of reading your column of 12 Nov, &quot; Our GIs
earn enough&quot; and I am a bit confused. Frankly, I'm wondering where this
vaunted overpayment is going, because as far as I can tell, it disappears
every month between DFAS (The Defense Finance and Accounting
Service) and my bank account. Checking my latest leave and earnings
statement (LES), I see that I make $1,117.80, before taxes. After
taxes, I take home $874.20. When I run that through Windows' Calculator, I come
up with an annual salary of $13,413.60 before taxes, and $10,490.40
after.

I work in the Air Force Network Control Center (AFNCC), where I am
part of the team responsible for the administration of a 5,000-host
computer network. I am involved with infrastructure segments,
specifically with Cisco Systems equipment. A quick check under jobs
for Network Technicians in the Washington, D.C. area reveals a position in
my career field, requiring three years experience with my job. Amazingly,
this job does NOT pay $13,413.60 a year, nor does it pay less than this.
No, this job is being offered at $70,000 to $80,000 per annum. I'm sure you can
draw the obvious conclusions.

Also, you tout increases to Basic Allowance for Housing and Basic
Allowance for Subsistence (housing and food allowances, respectively)
as being a further boon to an already overcompensated force. Again,
I'm curious as to where this money has gone, as BAH and BAS were both
slashed 15% in the Hill AFB area effective in January 00.

Given the tenor of your column, I would assume that you have NEVER
had the pleasure of serving your country in her armed forces.
Before you take it upon yourself to once more castigate congressional
and DOD leadership for attempting to get the families in the military's
lowest pay brackets off AFDC, WIC, and food stamps, I suggest that you join a
group of deploying soldiers headed for AFGHANISTAN, I leave the choice of
service branch up to you. Whatever choice you make, though, opt for the SIX
month rotation: it will guarantee you the longest possible time away from
your family and friends, thus giving you full &quot;deployment experience&quot;.

As your group prepares to board the plane, make sure to note the
spouses and children who are saying good-bye to their loved ones. Also take care
to note that several families are still unsure of how they'll
be able to make ends meet while the primary breadwinner is
gone - obviously they've been squandering the vast piles of cash the DOD has been
giving them.

Try to deploy over a major holiday; Christmas and Thanksgiving are
perennial favorites. And when you're actually over there, sitting in
a DFP(Defensive Fire Position, the modern-day foxhole), shivering
against the cold desert night, and the flight sergeant tells you that
there aren't enough people on shift to relieve you for chow, remember
this: trade whatever MRE (meal-ready-to-eat) you manage to get for the
tuna noodle casserole or cheese tortellini, and add Tabasco to
everything, This gives some flavor.

Talk to your loved ones as often as you are permitted; it won't nearly
be long enough or often enough, but take what you can get and be
thankful for it. You may have picked up on the fact that I disagree
with most of the points you present in your op-ed piece. But, tomorrow
from KABUL, I will defend to the death your right to say it.

You see, I am an American fighting man, a guarantor of your First
Amendment rights and every other right you cherish. On a daily
basis, my brother and sister soldiers worldwide ensure that you and
people like you can thumb your collective nose at us, all on a salary that is
nothing short of pitiful and under conditions that would make most
people cringe. We hemorrhage our best and brightest into the private sector
because we can't offer the stability and pay of civilian companies. And you,
Ms. Williams, have the gall to say that we make more than we deserve?
Rubbish!

A1C Michael Bragg, Hill AFB AFNCC

This is another example of a state that says they don't violate the second amendment.
They just don't speak the whole truth about their views that say if you aren't rich or elite, then you won't be allowed. This is another way to remove weapons from the common law abiding citizen.
California is ( New York, too)
also like this, where you can apply for a concealed carry permit, but unless you are one of the jetsetters, you'll never be issued your permits.

Senator Diane Feinstein (D) Cali. is very outspoken against the second amendment, saying the normal citizen can't be trusted and that EVERY situation can be handled by the police.

Funny thing is, she has a Cali. concealed carry permit and carries a .38 in her purse because she doesn't feel safe while alone at night and while traveling and also claims that she, being a senator, possesses enough intelligence to know when and how to use the weapon.
She also believes only the military should be allowed to have weapons, which in her eyes, should only be in times of war. In other words, a totally disarmed military, lacking basic weapons skills, unless we are at war.

There are whacked people out there, you find them everywhere. Unfortunately, there are others that are even worse off mentally that will vote for these nutjobs like this.

Ritchie,
I can't telll you what you can and cannot do, but if you are caught and it goes into felony status, then your military career is also down the tubes. Also the NRA wouldn't be able to help you too much, if you broke the existing laws, but if you were violated by local or state police, while doing things properly and legally, they would help.

My rebuttal to this guy: (not you Ritchie)

Get the fudge out of the airforce and get a job in the private sector then. You got the smarts and the experience, why in God's name would you stay???

Personally, I would never begrudge any armed forces person any increase in anything. B/c they have the balls to look death in the face so I can sit on my lazy couch potato #$%^&#$%^&#$%^& and earn big $ doing the same work and not wonder if or when a bullet is gonna pierce my body.

The gun thing:
Laws are laws. Is it really that important that you carry a gun with you everywhere you go? I have managed to survive almost 32 years without ever having carried one.

Not far from you just across PA MA border are alot cheaper places to buy. I know how annoying it is for someone to charge so much for prefab drywall pieces of crap. As far as carrying guns well that is your right, but I would say you carry the most powerful weapon on your shoulders everyday. And as well WELCOME NEIGHBOR

Ritchie, I would highly advise against carrying without permit. Unfortunately, the courts have not held that ccw is necessarily protected by the Second Ammendment. This is because the ammendment is vague as to what constitutes the &quot;militia&quot;. Like yourself, I believe that its purpose is to protect the rights of the individual. The anti's, who generally believe the lies and misdirection of Sarah Brady &amp; the Million Misinformed Moms, hold that the clause only pertains to the States. Alas, the only people who knew for certain the true intent of the law have been dead for two centuries.

For the time being, suck it up &amp; follow the laws of MD, no matter how nonsensical they mayy seem. Be secure in the knowledge that this assignment won't last forever. And to prepare yourself for any future assignments that you might get, go to www.packing.org and investigate getting nonresident permits for other states. I personally have a resident permit for MI, and a nonres for FL. Between the two of them, I'm allowed to carry in 20 different states.

Also bear in mind that laws do get changed. Lawmakers are staring to realize that ccw actually reduces violent crime. Florida started the trend by being the first shall issue state. Nobody thought that law-abiding citizens in MI would ever be afforded the right to defend themselves, but just last year, MI went from may issue to shall issue.

Just as a side note, the packing.org website is down right now, but should be back online tomorrow (3/10) night. You'll find it to be very informative if you can ignore the members that are at the very far right or left when it comes to political views.

They may be gone, but their words stand forever!

Just look at the footnotes at the bottom of
the Constitution and you will see the exact intent of the writers and framers
in pertaining to the second amendment and others.

Their intent was for the people, not just militia nor the government,
to have the right to bear arms.

heehee don't say nothin' about high rents til you come try to live here in the bay area!
You'd be lukcy to find a one bedroom apartment for under $800, if you could even find
one.. we got lucky and got a really good deal and only pay $1550 for a 2 bedroom townhouse
with no yard, in a semi-bad area.. and that was a killer deal. This place sucks to rent in..
(we're trying to find someplace cheaper, but will prob have to move an hour commute away)
And I agree, don't carry if it will just get you in bigger trouble until it can be done legally.

Rithcie, see if those rule apply to Military too. Sometimes we get exceptions because we deal with weapons on a daily basis. Free housing? I'm in free housing, I'm an E5 in the USMC. It's not really free, they take you're BAH away if you live in housing. There's usually a list that you can get put on and when a house comes up and it's your turn you get it. I got a sweet house. We got the best housing on the East Coast except for Quantico down here in Beaufort. The BAH is based on the perdium of where you're at. Apparently they think the $800.00+ is enough to live. Funny how that works. I know San Diego costs some $$$$ to live there out in town. We just don't make enough but hey, we're all just governmental #'s to them. And that # is our name to them. They don't care a swinging dill about us.

Living in NYC I think I can female dog the most about high rents ! Even in the boogie down BRONX you are lucky to find a one bedroom apt. or small studio for 1K, and thats no where close to the most sought after areas of the city like SOHO which you are looking at $2500 for a SMALL studio.

Well Ritchie........I have to give my opinion on the gun issue....which doesn't seem very popular in here. haha anyways I have always said I would rather be in jail than be dead.

Karen....there was a quote somewhere.
&quot;I would rather be judged by twelve than carried by six&quot;

anyway...I am not carrying..........I have the two biggest cans of pepper spray in each car. It is not really for me...it is for the wife.
Well okay....it is partly for me.
In texas all the gang bangers seem to always want to corner me and try to pick fights. always wearing the wrong color in the wrong part of town...who knew.

in SC it was the gangster wanna be...(not even real gangs) but I will keep my mouth shut about sc.

I will apply to be a reserve police officer. That way I can get around the laws.....

The list for on post housing is two years for a two bedroom. The whole town is 5 miles north to south. and probably 6.5 miles east to west. real small.....I can't get into too much trouble.
In fact I think Frederick is in trouble now that I am here.

Thank you everyone for your advise......
the wife thanks you too. Because I was seriously considering getting arrested and suing.... but for now I will suck it up. Don't want to lose my rights just because I was trying to get everyone else theirs.

Yeah, that's why I moved the #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& out of DC/MD. I've been to Frederick a few times, I liked it a lot better than the DC area. Go to DC sometime and drive through the neighborhoods, and you'll see what I mean.

Ritchie,
Just a fair warning on the OC sprays.

During the summer, your car can get HOT inside!
The OC will lose pressure in the heat and although it feels full, it is, but won't spray any more...
Carry it in with you when you can, during the day, so it won't sit there all day.

I am OC Certified in NC, if you have any questions about how to use which kind
( stream, mist, fogger, or foam) feel free to ask, as each has different methods of deployment and charachteristics.

There are a lot that say there is no difference to the effects of 5% and 10%, but trust me, there is a big difference in the subjects reactions to the diff. strengths.

( I made some one puke and blow a snot string that would have made an elephant proud, two Fridays ago. ( 10%) Needless top say, it made a combative individual turn into a
crying sissy boy QUICKLY.)
