I suppose they all have personalities as we do. I have acouple that seem to prefer me to my husband and one that seems to prefer my husband.
We have 16 snakes. Most of them appear to enjoy time out of the viv and being handled. One is a little bit cranky and doesnt seem to enjoy being handled these days. Some appear to enjoy being handled for a long time and some only a few minutes is enough for them. Some just crawl around us and stay with us whilst others explore. We have one that watches tv. 3 of the corns often spend time watching what goes on outside their vivs , whilst the rest dont seem to take much notice. Our corns are often active through daytime but we rarely see our boas or carpet python out unless its dark.
Our dwarf pastel boa could be perceived as affectionate.
My sister in law has a corn that doesnt use its hide, it curls up ontop of it instead.
So all of our snakes have their own redeeming personality traits.

I've seen snakes head-rub when they have mites, presumably trying to dislodge them. Might be worth giving him a check over?

My RTB does that sometimes too. He has no mites and does it even when not shedding. But then again when one of my kids walk near he opens his mouth at him. He dosen't do that to anyone else.
