Food size question.
Our Boa is about 26 inchs long. He is like the size around of a quarter maybe slightly bigger. I was checking on Rodentpro at rats (impossible to get around here other than bigger) would I want to order the fuzzies or pups? Thanks in advance..

Fuzzie Mice would be perfect for a 26" Boa, and thats what I feed mine. I am not sure of the size of fuzzy rats, but I know of people feeding rat pups to there boas when there about that size. Although I don't know if nutrition wise, rat pups are that healthy. Congratz on your boa, were did you obtain him/her from?

I ALWAYS suggest rats when you can get them to eat them. In most boas it's not a problem and they will quickly take them, and even prefer them. They are better for your snake. Look here to see why
If your boa is as big around as a quarter, then I would suggest weaned rats from Rodentpro. You should always try to feed your boa something the same size as it's widest girth. After it eats, there should be a visible lump in it's belly. Not a huge lump, but just visible.

DUDE!!!! That is WAY too small for a 26" Boa. A new born can take bigger than a fuzzy mouse. If you are feeding fuzzy mice please reconsider what your feeding it.
I would say more with the rat pups, I know Rodentpro gives a size comparison pic on their site. You have to remember the snake will kinda squish the prey down so it will get longer and a little thinner. it should be able to handle the pups. If not keep em in the freezer it will be up to them soon. Also Dont go nuts and buy like 100 of them, your snake wont be on that size prey for very long.

I just went to rodent pro and the fuzzys on that aren't the frozen fuzzys I get from the petshop. I don't think they even sell those small mice were I get mine from. It says "fuzzies" on the bag :\

Well when you call them fuzzies, most everyone in herpkeeping is thinking of the very first stage of a mouse's life when it FIRST starts getting hair. these are tiny. As we all know pet stored don't know hardly anything about any of the animals they sell, as well as their employees dont.

Are you sure they are fuzzy mice you are getting Shub?
I mean, adult mice and jumbo mice are about the right size for a boa of 26 inches. I can't imagine that any mouse even close to fuzzy would be that size.

I buy them by the size, not by the name. Maybe I should order from RodentPro. Im looking at some of these prices and there actualy alot cheaper if I were to order alot since I pay for shipping. It never came accross my mind that i was starving my boa because it always has a fat belly by the end of feeding.

Trinity I am looking at the scale images and comparing to some of the ones In my freezer and some appear to be weaned/adult mice. They don't even look like the fuzzies on rodentpro.
