bird attacks
just wondering if this happens to anyone else. whenever i take my 3ft rtb out for some sun within 10 min. the top rail of the fence is lined with birds, mainly male robins, who then hop down into the yard and begin advancing towards the snake until i think they are to close and i chase them off but they are back in a few minutes. i assume its an attemp to drive away a predator but would they actually attack him?

Maybe there just over anxious and feel as if it must be an honor to be a birdy meal to your rtb .. hehe.. maybe they there curious and wondering what that big slug slithering around is? -- I think robins eat worms, so they might be mistaken your RTB for some type of giant worm like thanksgiving feast?

robins are mean lil monsters. I had one dive bomb me a few years back because I was near their nest. But in your case I wouldn't be too worried. They could be just investigating what happening, but do keep an eye on them.

Probably if they felt threatened. I have had the same experiences in my yard. The last time there were Cardinals, Chickadees, Brown Thrashers, House Finches and Chipping Sparrow all checking out my big boa. Today it was a Cat Bird. Thrashers have gotten real close a few times this year. Last year I had a Mockingbird do some wing flashing at her, which was pretty funny.
Not sure how far the birds will take this honestly, and I am not sure if it is curiosity or fear at this point.
Yesterday I had a hawk fly over about 8 feet above my head when I had my sinaloan milksnake out. That worries me more than anything else so I always have one eye on the sky and one on the ground when my smaller snakes are out.
I also would like to hear more stories about this from other members.

I have had this happen not only with snake but also when working with hawks and owls. Birds seem to gather and raise quite a ruckus sometimes swooping down like they are gonna attack. All preditors like to hunt unnoticed and all the attention usually drives them away to look elsewhere for thier food.
