jay-z video
i know this is herp site. but people talk about movies and such, so i figured i'd mention this. and i don't know how many hiphop fans are out there. anyway, i just saw jay-z's video for "99 Problems" and i thought it was brilliant. tight song, too. it seems there is alot more of a rock influence on rap lately, with songs like this one and "Bust" by outkast. and by the way, if anyone has seen it, is that rick ruben in the video? looks like it. one more thing, i found it odd how the graphic scenes of jay z's demise in the video were allowed with mtv's anti-violence censors.

I general dont like Jay-z's newer since, post blueprint crap. But the black album was is a great album, best Jay-z album to date. The beats, lyrics everything all Jay-z and just a great album. Hate to see him leave but great ablum to leave on. HIs "99 Problems" track is one of the best cuts on the album and the video perfectly goes with the song. Hip hop is mixxing more and more rock beats in with hip hop because they are tring to expand the evolope and have new orgininal beats and not the same old bass and drum. Outkast is the fineist of hip hop today, there songs are genius and are truely musically master, in that they have a rock/jazz feel. Jay-Z's song is rock influenced but its still rap because the music is centered around Jay-z's lyrics. This is unlike Oustkast which are musically centered then come the lyrics. MTV did later censor the ending of the video where Jay-z is killing, but they might show it later at night or early morning.

OK, back to the topic at hand....
Uh, Who is Jay-z??
I mean it's not like I am 60 years old, but I missed this singer/band/group/whatever.
I guess I am older than I think. Have to hang out with my kids more

lol... you really don't know who jay-z is, herpkingdom? for real?
telefrag, you are probably right. i don't think he stuck to hip-hop.
and about outkast, i think the are the best group out there today, out of all the genres. (which isn't saying much, with the current music slump). Aquemini is one of the best rap albums ever. and Stankonia and the new one(s) well deserving of the Grammy recongition they got.
