Statistics
I am looking to get some statistics for an upcoming speech.
Does anyone know of a reputable source that I can quote which offers a number for reptiles that are put to sleep each year? The US Humane Society and PETA have numbers for dogs and cats but I cannot seem to find a source for reptiles and other exotics.
Anyone?

you can call Dr. Borzio in Staten Island, NY. His number should be in the online yellow pages. He takes care of all the reptiles at the zoos etc. If you want I can look up his number and perhaps he can hook you up with a suitable source.
The only thing I will warn you about is his personality. He is not a nice person to speak with. But if you get a good source who cares? You never have to talk to him again.
Just don't take it personally....no one likes him

The best I can help you with is dogs and cats also, for the local shelter as they don't put reptiles down unless they have absolutely no other choice, such as a danger to humans etc, or injured beyond recovery.
In fact, even illegal for the county species are kept until adopted out, typically to a resident of a county where they are legal.
Anyways, here's their site and the statistics links. (click on fiscal years)

Just an update on this, I still have not been able to get any confirmed numbers from a reputable source, just estimates and I don’t want to go into a speech and not be able to back it up so I need some real numbers.
Could not find Dr.. Borzio.
I am still trying to get a reply from Richard Fairanado at the humane society.
