Some of you know that I have been in Iraq/Kuwait for the past 10 months now. I have a couple thousand phtographs from this time, and have uploaded about 35 or so for now.
What everyone sees on the news is just a fraction of what actually happens. You see the battles between the military and the rebels (or whatever they are called this week). The news rarely shows the convoys of civilian contractors getting attacked. They finally got something to broadcast with the whole Tom Hammill situation on April 9th.
We are thankful that Tom has been returned to us safely, but still grieve the drivers that were killed and the two that are still missing. Heck, I bet most of you didn't know we still have two missing. The media only seems to report the military personnel, not the civilian contractors that are out here supporting the military.
Now we have another civilian killed. Brutally murdered in such a way that it moved everyone over here. I mean really moved. Brought grown men to tears.
You see the news in the past few days and how the fighting has escalted?? Well the troops have seen the video. They are as peed off as I am.
I believe this situation over here is going to get worse the closer the June 30th hand over gets. And if we do stay (if they don't ask us to leave, in other words), it will continue.
I am here until December 13th, then I am coming home to be with my family. I am thankful not to be up there in Iraq anymore, but my prayers go with the drivers who still are driving through Iraq everyday.
