nile monitors

my friend just came over and handed my a 24" nile moniter i was wondering if they are aggresive i really not sure on these monitors he seems docil i need some advace

if he seems docile he could be harboring some sort of problem. These lizards are very agressive and very active at that age.
Many lizards in general that people find "docile" in petstores are merely sick.
This is not usually a good montor choice.

I agree wholeheartedly with Nicole, and to add, I've rescued numerous niles of varying sizes from babies to adults. I have yet to deal with one that was actually friendly. I did have one ornate nile that was workable, but he'd still bite your face off, claw you up, and whack you with his tail if you didn't know how to approach him and handle him. I give them to new homes ASAP because I just don't have the time or inclination to deal with an animal like that every day.

i didn't know niles were that aggresive i was going to get before my blackthroat. how would i get rid of this one i have now the pet stores wont take it
