The safest thing is to keep them in separate rooms.
As my sister found out with her cats, they can stress out snakes if they get access to the cages. They will paw at the glass and sit on the top of the tank and annoy the heck out of the snake. On the other side, it is possible for the snake to mistake the kitten as a prey item. So play it safe and keep the snake in a separate room with a closed door.
Threatening to use the cat as a food item seems to work at making sure the litter box stays clean and I dont have to touch it <br>
(Just kidding!)

My cat has been around snakes his entire life, so he thinks nothing of them, and they seem to think nothing of him. But, a squirt gun or water bottle does the trick in teaching kitty what is allowed and what isn't. The only thing I deal with now is him trying to play with their tails when I take them out of their cages.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid cats can be sometimes.... our cat will chase the tail of our 7' BCI. You would think the cat would realize that that tail was connected to something that could very quickly and easily turn it in to a nice dinner.

Heck, tails are nothing, my younger cat always wants to see what the snakes are, but is afraid of them, so if they get too close she'll smack them on the nose! So when the snakes are out, she has to be banished to the bedroom!
