snake in the grass
just wanted to share a moment of niceness I had a couple of days ago.
On 4/27or28 I was on the job delivering oil to a residence. As I backed up the driveway I witnessed a stoneworker playing w/something in a raised planting bed next to the house and being a nosy s.o.b. just had to see what he kept poking at only to find out it was a snake. I'm not sure what kind but it was approx.12-14 in. long about as thick as a pencil. the main body color was a soft caramel color w/darker brown stripe down the center of its back. The top of the head was dark brown almost black. All in all a very nice looking snake for a little fellow. So once I realized what this kid was tormenting I proceeded to scoop the terrified little fellow up and look close at him while he squirmed around in my hand. The kid then see's what I'm doing and ask's "are you gunna keep it" well my reply was NO I'm going to let him go where he can live his life in peace.I then proceed to walk acroos the nearly baren yard to the greenest grass patch next to the woods I could find and released the snake. As I stood there watching it Ithought it almost looked like the snake was looking at me (I'm sure out of fear)as if to say thanx. I then watched it head off for cover in the grass.Unfortunatly like I said I was at work so I dont have a pic of the little guy but if anyone has an idea on what it was I'd be interested. So thats my good deed for the day story.

Nice story! Hopefully your good sense will rub off on the kid. Almost sounds like it was a dekayi, or brown snake but I don't know if you have those up there.
