Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
I was asked by and friend of a friend of a friend, to take this guy's Iguana. This person has a 5 year old, male Ig who he is claiming it to be aggresive. according to him, the Ig bit him really bad.
My question is, What has he been doing wrong for this to occur? I can only imagine.
So I'm torn. I was thinking about rescuing an Iguana in the near future anyways, but I would have to take this guy soon. I also worry about him being adtoped by an idiot from Craigslist, so its more of an incentive to take him asap.
I wont have the time to build him anything very large before he gets here, but I will work on it starting tomorrow. I was actually thinking if adopted an ig and allowing it to live in my bathroom. I have an unusually large bathroom. Probably about as big as most bedrooms. I also have a huge jucuzzi tub and I was thinking about building some rock steps going into the tub and setting up a basking area.
What do any of you think about igs living in their own rooms?

Re: Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
I know a girl who had a room for her ig, and it worked out fine. Her ig lived all over the house anyways, it didn't have an enclosure. In fact, some caresheets I've read (I was thinking about getting one) suggest having a whole room for your adult ig.
The bathroom thing sounds like a cool idea.

Re: Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
Thanks Ashes...I think so too...the tile will get nice a warm with a few power suns around the bathroom. and I think I may get him a ficcus tree to sit in...or some sort of tree like perch. it will be fun to "landscape" my bathroom.
I may opt to install a UVB light fixture from the celing.

Re: Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
Sounds like a fun project. Turn your gi-normous bathroom into a mini-sauna/tropical setting. Not like any extras for his health will hurt yours.

Re: Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
HA of course not. I do better in tropical settings anyways....If I could move all of my animals to St. Thomas, I would move there in a heartbeat....but I asked the Humane Society last time I was there just about dogs....and they have a strict quarentine policy when you arrive...its like a month for the dog....so I can only imagine with reptiles...and especially since St. Thomas has a bazzillion wild igs...who come up to you at dinner and ask for your salad......

Re: Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
I really want an iguana to walk up to me and ask for my salad. In English. Politely. I think I would give it to him.

Re: Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
HAHAA... I swear, I wasn't drinking...My family thought it was weird how by the end of dinner, there were 6 igs just sitting at my feet, becuase I had been feeding them my salad during dinner. They call me the "lizard lady"....I guess sort of like the pigeon lady in Central Park.

Re: Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
I would much rather be a lizard lady than a pigeon lady.

Re: Ive been asked to take rescue an Ig
right now its breeding season. so that could be a HUGE factor in the aggressiveness. that ig is in sexual maturity and his hormones are flowin. the agressivness could also be cuz the guy doesnt handle it a lot.
