Carnie Iguanas
So this weekend my boyfriend and I were checking out the local carnival...and unfortunatly we found something not so merry . You know the stands where people try and throw a ping pong ball into a little fish bowl and they win a fish? Or a hermit crab? Ohhh no..
look what they were using a prizes:
It was really really sad. Notice the iceberg lettuce, and there were at least 8 igs in there..
My friend bought one to try and save it from all this...NOT to encourage the sale, though...as she informed the man.
But I'm going to call someone and report this...just showing you how horrible some people are.

Re: Carnie Iguanas
its just as bad when they do it with goldfish..
with goldfish TONS of them die...atleast with iguana's they have some incentive to keep em alive...i dont even think they FEED the gold fish...either way its sad...
edit: on a lighter note...i won my first 2 goldfish as a kid at a local fair...and believe it or not one of them actualy commited suicide...i woke up one mornign at it was layin on the floor all crusty and gross...it somehow JUMPED out of the fishbowl it was in...weirdest thing ever....

Don't feel too guilty about this having happened. It was probably nothing at all to do with you...maybe they had a quarrel and one took the leap to spite the other one.
Did the other one survive?

Re: Carnie Iguanas
Well I guess we can hope that most of them went to good homes and not to people who would probably just toss them out...but then, it's Florida, right?
Is it legal to let them go, seeing as how there are so many of them that have become resident there?
I guess also that these are wild caught?

Re: Carnie Iguanas
I don't know about them being wild caught, probably not. Buying Igs in bulk is really really cheap. Somewhere around $2-5 each..then charging $25, you get a good profit. But yeah, it's illegal to let any alien species go in Florida because of the insane amount of invasive species (i.e. Burmese Pythons)...The igs here came with a TINY 1 gal plastic container, maybe even half gal, no caresheet, nothing. Its terrible.
