RIP Hershey...
Well I saw this area and decided I would vent. When I was about fifteen I had an Iguana named Hershey and he was the coolest Iguana . He was Huge probably about 5 ft. long and he would always whip the cat with his tail . Well when I got active in high school I gave Hershey to a family friend. Well about a year later Hershey got really sick and the local zoo decided they would take him and nurture him back to good health. Hershey was doing great and all was good. All was good until about six months ago I went back to the zoo to see him and I couldn't find him or the section where he was. So I went and asked someone who worked there and they told me that the reptile exhibit had burned down last year and Hershey could not be saved.

Re: RIP Hershey...
Hey, I am very sorry to read about what happened to Hershey. I have a pair of iguanas, Iggy and Clover...quite large they are now, too. It must have been a horrible shock for you. However, the fire was an accident, I suppose, that maybe could not have been prevented, and despite the pain of it for you, imagining his suffering and death, you must realize that it may have happened somewhere else - even in your own home. I know of someone on this site (where is she now?) that lost quite a few pets due to a fire at home.
I am sure that Hershey had a great life while being with you.
We can never tell what our actions may result in, good or bad, and must try not to imagine what might have been - because it might not have been at all. Suppose you had kept him, there is no way of telling how that may have turned out...he may have choked to death, or a large dog may have got him.

Re: RIP Hershey...
I'm so sorry to hear about Hershey.
We had a big female named Zoe for ten years before she was lost to a botched stone removal operation. It was a slow, painful decline, but not neary as hidious as the thought of dying in a fire.
