Just wondering what people thought about the red phase iguana. I have one and can't decide whether to keep it and try to breed it or would I be wasting my time as there are plenty of normal green iguanas out there already. It should be a genetic trait as there were a bunch of them showing this coloration in the clutch. Just wanted to get some opinions. Thanks

Got a pic?
It sounds just like normal iggy coloration... probably not inheritable in a "recessive" sense..
here is a snipit from my earlier thread "No blue iguanas"
adult iguanas that have nose horns and an overall brownish
apprearance tend to be from the Mexico
area. Peru area iguanas tend to have more
blue and blue/white heads. Iguanas from Venesualia (sp?)
tend to have a more red color. (in James Hatfield's iguana book www.iguana.com,
he has a pic of "red" iggy)

Assuming it is an Iguana iguana - a green iguana is a green iguana, regardless of what other colors are on it, its still 19.95 at Petco. Please don't breed it - there are enough out there without homes already.
