hey all,
i gotan iggy a while back from someone who didn't what him anymore and i thought i could give him a good home. he's about 3 years (maybe) and from nose to vent about a foot long with about another foot and a half of tail, some of which has broken off.

well recently i've noticed he's not eating as much as he used to when i first got him. he used to eat an entire plate full of greens, squash, zucinni, green beans, and carrots. now he only eats about half of that. he also used to go poo every day, now he goes maybe every two or three days. i'm guessing the lack of poo is related to the lack of food, but why is he not eating a lot? i have a basking light with a 60w bulb which brings the temp to about 90 and a Reptisun 6.0 bulb on as well. any ideas anyone?

Could be many different things that are going on with the ig that's causing it to not eat quite like it used to at all.
Has there been any changes in location like caging or a move at all recently ?
If so, the Ig will get back on track soon as it acclimates again is all.

Hmm, My igs bask at like 95-100 degrees usually. Might try to increase that a bit possibly and see if that helps at all.
Also what are the temps in the cage also not in the basking area ?
If they are too low atm then the ig may go off feed until they get back up even. A lot of reptiles will go off feed if their temps are a bit low as they seem to recognize that they need such for digestion themselves sometimes.

Also try changing what is offered a bit. Sometimes they can get a bit fussy and a lil change in what they are eating will get em feeding again np.

Are there any other health type issues going on with the ig at all that you notice ?

What is your husbandry for the ig like ?
Has there been any changes in socialization interaction with the ig at all recently ?

thanks lori.
for a while in august i had him outside on the deck but it was just too hot so i moved him back inside. as for his temps, i think his overall temp is down cause it's just so hard to heat an open cage like the one he's in. i'll see what i can do to increase the temps. as far as social changes, there aren't any. he stays in his cage and i have no wish to take him out and hold him. his overall health seems fine. i haven't noticed any other problems besides his lack of apatite. i usually clean his cage out every couple of days. the only substrate is multiple layers of newspaper so it's easy.
