My god mother came round recently and since I had my royal out, she started to talk about reptiles. I said what reptiles were good for beginners, then suddenly suggested an iguana!

She seemed delighted at the idea and asked me more about them, I dont know much apart from they're herbevoires, grow to a reasonable size, need there claws cut and require a large enclosure. I told her it was a big responsibilty and could take a lot of time off her hands.
She still seemed interested and even thought of a name!!!

She has got the space for one, and ive seen it. She knows what it eats, but I said id ask u guys and gals for advice. HELP!!!

Well, they are easy and hard to keep...
The biggest thing for them is to have the diet correct, and UV lighting.
They also will need a very large enclosure when they are grown as well, with plenty of ventilation and warmth.
Quite a few also don't reccomend them as pets due to their needs and a lot of times, their attitudes later on, such as males during breeding season, etc.
Also, it has been reported in many magazines and sites that lizards, iggys especially, don't get along with female humans during the humans menstrual cycle.

Thier bites are also a lot worse than snak bites in just the amount of flesh that is shredded if not completely torn off.

just food for thought.
Also check out this site,
Swoffords Iggy site.

Has she shown any interest in any other species such as geckos?

You might want to try her on some small monitor like a savannah. They are big still, but not even as big as green igs. If she has the space for a green ig, she should be able to get a monitor. In terms of size, they are less of a problem. Of course, their diet and their requirements are something altogether different. I dunno, ask her!
