Jumpy jumpy

So When I first started to touch him, he was fine, now he jumps. It wasnt so bad, but when he jumps it makes me flinch bad. I dunno why I never had this problem with my snake or turtle. But he's learned I think that he knows I dont like it when he jumps. Im trying to get past that so I can start to hold him. I try to look at it not being different from trying to hold a squirmy rat for the first time..but i dunno.
Any suggestions? Im not afraid of him, or worried of being bitten because he's so little.

same thing happened to me, the first few days you have them there calm but when they get settled in and are used to there new surroundings it gets a little crazy just be patient and he'll calm down

U know I used to catch wild snakes all the time and never flinched, but its been like 3 years and now I bought a snake like 4-5 months ago and I started to flinch when he flinched, but now we are both fine. I guess I had to get back into the swing of things
