cute lizard pics and question

I should get a medal for taking him out and handling him and taking pictures during breeding season. Well, okay, so it wasn't that bad.... he's just a little guy, and he's never even tried to bite, but he is a handful right now!

I have a question, too. While Xander did go into season last year, he only barely turned orange. This year, he's not really orange either, except when he's all worked up... then he kind of turns rust-colored like in the pics... not birght orange, but I guess that will come with age. So my question is, this: I was under the impression that male iguanas are orange throughout breeding season, was this a misunderstanding? Is it normal for them to turn orange just when they're worked up, and then turn back again?

Not that I'm worried... just curious. Thanks for looking!

as he gets older his colors might come out more---but each iguana is so different to begin with. Some are very colorful at that time and others change minimally. But age will change the breeding colors --maybe you can log a phot each year so you can more closely monitor that change.
Here is a page that perhaps your aware of already? It seems to be the starting point for most new ig owners:
