How to deal with bleeding broken Iguana nails?
My Ig some how got out and ripped 4 nails off 3 on the left frond hand and 1 on the back left foot...
I stopped the bleeding as so it seems but i think that if i try to look at it some more again and he struggles they will reopen, should i give him until tom. to heal up? Should i give him his usual bath tom. or give the scabs or w.e to heal longer?
He is also showing pain to his front hand with the three nails missing and i feel bad for him anything i can use to ease his pain?
Also he's about 1 and half years old and around 3 feet.

skip the normal bath until tomorrow.
Try and soak the affected area in a betadine/warm water solution....let the animal then bask under the lights...place a white clan towl on his basking area....see how the area looks tomorrow.
You don't want to bandag it yt you want to keep it as clan and dry as possible. UVB/heat will help...are you using som decent bulbs?

You really should do a thorough inspection of your cage to see if you can't figure out how this happened so you can prevent future accidents. I hope he gets to feeling better soon!

hmm...if it's just the nail, I wouldn't worry too much about it. DON"T PUT ANYTHING ON IT THOUGH. leave it alone the best you can and only give him that bath if they're scapped over nicely by tomorrow. But otherwize he should be just fine. My Iguana used to climb the curtains and lost a couple of toe-tips falling out of them...the only thing is that the claws will only be nubs after now...

betadine is a solution they sell at any pharmacy or market....like a rite aid. It looks like watery iodine--they us it at md offices for a variety of things...I always have it handy in the herp room

I used it for any bites I might encounter (I learned that at a vet's office) and I find it very useful for just about any superficial integumentary injury with my animals

If you need to stop the bleeding, you can use the following:
styptic pencil wich is aluminum sulfide or sulfate...whatever...not sure, doesn't matter. It's what ya use to stop bleeding on razor nicks.
alum powder (used to pickle things) same stuff as above. Avoid the temptation to taste it. You will pucker up and have dry mouth for quite some time
corn starch.

Ahh yeah..baking powder...I've heard that too..baking soda makes sense..never heard of using soap but I can see how that would clog it up ...another we both missed is flour. Although wild caught iguanas probably have memories of watching their relatives cooked and eaten by humans...so be careful not to stress your ig while rolling it around in flour
