Thanks folks!!!
Justin, he is not very big, in fact I think he is under the size he was supposed to be, which puzzles me because he is very *apparently* healthy... he has meat on his bones, and his skin and color are gorgeous!!!

And yes, iguanas arent recommended as first time lizards but that is only because first time lizard owners often are not responsible or knowledgable enough to deal with them. It sounds like you did your research and know what you are doing. Good luck, and adult iguanas can be amazing looking lizards when cared for properly and although many are mean I have met people with healthy, very tame ones, so have fun with your new scaley!

Oh, boy, the laws here regarding exotics and animals from our fauna is always changing... the government organ that controls all this here is called "IBAMA". They are almighty and powerful, but they are a joke... their last laws are only *favoring* the illegal smuggling of exotics. Which are smuggled everywhere as always in terrible conditions...
Not to count SO MUCH corruption inside the organ...
So, some years ago they totally prohibited the pet commerce of ALL exotics, (snakes, any reptiles, etc).
Then they started to slowly permit one or other species. They permit some snakes now, as well as iguanas, tegus, a few little monkeys and a few birds. But they HAVE to come from *legal* breeders, all microchiped. There are only a handful of legal breeders that are really more like a mafia. But they are the "good" mafia... IBAMA makes everything they can to make it difficult for new people to legally open their exotic breeding facilities. Even when they are NOT for commercial thing, like this friend I have from Bahia... he is trying to breed Bushmasters only for conservation, and the IBAMA, although already gave him some permissions, they drive him nuts with the most stupid rules...
Anyway... the IBAMA says we can have iguanas and boas, captive bred from legal breeders. Only one of my boas is legal, and my iguana isn't, it didn't come from a legal breeder, but it was raised much better than most legal breeders do. It was hatched and raised by a simple hobbyist.
But you know what's funny? I just found out through this guy, that I can buy these IBAMA microchips and put in my animals, and "legalize" them... this, of course, is a highly illegal practice, but IBAMA would accept it... and oh, do you know who sells the chips??? Some high shot... from inside IBAMA. Isn't it a joke? Here is their cool website, you wouldn't tell they are so much corruption inside it:
