One of two Iguanas in the US
Around two years ago there were many Desert Iguanas in the deserts around Desert Hot Springs and all over the surrounding desert cities, now I'm finally seeing them again, this is the first one i've seen in years and here he is nameless, give me some names everyone.

They are fairly easy I just need to see what they can eat. I know they eat ceocate bush blossoms, crickets once in a while, and seasonal grasses. I want to see what else they feed on I heard they feed on cacti. They grow around two feet. Very calm iguana. The desert that he lived in is going to be developed into a civic center, so I want to look for all the desert iguanas there so they won't be killed as well as other wild life I keep the iguanas I find to breed them. Maybe?or a science teacher at the high school right next to the desert can keep them.

From my readings, they are similar to uromastyx in diet. Like the uros, there are differing opinions on whether or not they should have animal protein. Many people lean towards the notion that they are completely herbivorous. In that case, they eat dark, leafy greens with some shredded veggies (the standard list). Rather than fruits, their treats would be flowers (hibiscus, nasturtium, dandelion, etc.) and cactus.
They need big, big enclosures, high temps and lots of UVB. I think they're cool looking- I like the chuckwallas too. Temperament wise, I haven't heard much. I don't think there's a lot of captive breeding of this species- almost all are wild caught and resold.
Jesustheherper- weren't you just talking about breeding something? Maybe this is the way to go...
