iguana toe question

the tip of my iggys toe is gone and i was wondering if it will grow back? and if so how long should i expect it to take? and also his claw is missing too. i feel bad because there missing and im just really worried there not gunna grow back. and i also think one of his toes is broken. if it is what on earth should i do? this is my frist iggy and i just feel so clueless sometimes about this stuff. so any help would be greatly appreciated.

one last question, how do i go about finding a vet for my iggy? or does anyone know of a good one in minnesota? im willing to drive a bit for him cuz he means the world to me. thanks in advance.

hey sorry to hear about your problems.
How long have you had the iguana? How old is he? What type of lighting and diet is he subjected to?
No his toe will not grow back. Therefore it becomes important to find out the root of the problem---whether it's current conditions or past issues.
As far as you finding a qualified vet--look in your local phone book, and start calling offices near you. Ask questions over the phone (have the vet call you back) .....
ask whether they see reptiles; if so if they have any experience with iguanas; tell them the symptoms and ask what they think. See if you can find a doc who specializes in reptiles (not easy); ask the doc about diet (should my iguana be eating insects? and or animal protien); ask about lighting (should my iguana be using a day cycle basking bulb or an ultra violet B bulb? Which one?
Come back here and post what the answers to the vets who you feel you might want to use. I wish I had an easier answer for you.
I have in the past used vets who were posted at certain reptile sites with much dissatisfaction. It took a while to find a good vet. Good luck.
