Fruits for Iggys
What kinds of fruits do green iggys love to eat? I have tried Bananas, raspberries and kiwis so far. And my George has eaten them good, but if I put them out a couple of days later he just nibbles.

Do you warm your food up after its been in the frig?
I have a jar of squash that I will try as well. What about the green beans? do they like them?

I have been buying the plastic tray foods---with the peel off top. I use it all so it's never in the fridge...they (mine anyway) are so so with green beans. They love carrots and all the fruits though.

George has been eating the sweet potatoes good, and he really loves bananas. I tried apples and blueberries yesterday and he liked them. I tried the butternut squash the other and it was a soso reaction.
We take him out of the cage to feed him, then afterwards he gets to hang out on the curtain rail for about an hour or so as a treat.
The other day he jumped out of cage and went straight for the curtain rail. Looks as if I am going to have to put a basking light up there as he seems to have found his spot.

you can install a high shelf with a basking point and he might be drawn to it---many green owners do this

RE: Fruits for Iggys
I have been feeding George (my green) bananas, which he loves, sweet potatoes, apples and blueberries with banana mixed in, Of course he loves his mustard greens with grated carrots on top. He has been eating pieces of mango like crazy when I put them in his bowl. I have tried butternut squash baby food, and he turned his nose up. Are peaches good? I havent tried them yet, but I found a jar of peaches and bananas mixed that I want to try if the peaches are good for him to eat.

You should check out the Green Iguana Society website. THey have a whole list of greens, fruits, and veggies that iguanas can and should have, as well as a guide to how frequently they can have them. It has helped me alot in feeding my iggies and making sure they get what they need to be healthy and live a long life. I occasionally treat with baby food, but fresh is always better.
