cage dimensions?
hi everybody, i am new to this site and just had a question about cage size for my new baby iguana. i have not even had him a week yet, but so far i think he/she is great. but anyways...he/she is about 4.5 inches long (i think like 13 or 14 with the tail) and i want it to have plenty of room to move around and also to grow into before i have to build a really BIG cage. so does anybody have any suggestions of some good dimensions to start out with? ....oh yea i was gonna use the PVC cage idea, is that a good choice to go with?
THANKS EVERYBODY,
brandon

i would make it 6'tall 5'long and 4'wide. that was the setup for my 4.5' male iguana that i sued to have. i make it with a wooden frame and plexiglass sides. as for the door i cut out a rectangle so i could get in and clean it out. it was a wooden door with chicken wire. it took me and my dad a good amount of time to build it.

I'm not sure what your asking---what the cage size should be for an adult or the baby you have now? When you say PVC cage idea do you mean the one online for ig's? What is he in now?

oh ok--are you planning on getting another tank ? If so try and get the largest one you could afford..they like alot of room. Do you think a 50 or 75 gallon is doable? If you bought a 75 gallon you would only have to build that cage you were talking about for an adult as your final cage (and then you would have the 75 gallon for another herp ).
In a 75 gallon you could fit a basking site, a hide---a cool side branch side, food station and a soaking dish (cat litter pan). Anything smaller and you would have to build the new cage sooner and he would be lost in a huge cage right now....
have you seen the LARGE IG cage blueprints they have?

here's the site--you can either order a disassembled cage--or order the blueprints and do it yourself. I was actually thinking about the largest one he has myself:
