That wouldn't surprise me Actually, you'd be surprised how many ex-Californians and ex-northerners (MN/IL...) there are here! But all the mechanics are locals... The day after I moved here I went to the P.O. and when I went re-start my car, the battery was completely dead! I called a local mechanic (recommended by the bank teller next door) and he got me going (to go get a battery from Walmart!??!) and refused to charge a cent! so don't knock Arkansas until you've tried it...

Auto Zone installs batteries (and air filters, etc.) for free if you buy them there. I had to replace that one this week too. Ugh. And just to tie up loose ends, with the new muffler, the car passed emissions today.

Re: Look, I fixed it!
Basically, I just need to date a mechanic. If he can be from Arkansas, so much the better!

Don't forget to clean the leaves and dog poop off the rake before using it for hot dogs. Just a friendly reminder.

Not a good idea...when I dated a mechanic, he talked me into the neediest van in the world (so I would need him all the more?!?)...talk about backfiring!

He would have to deal with the world's neediest (kneadiest) Siamese so it would be a fair trade.

Re: Look, I fixed it!
It's Murphy's law that when you raking leaves, there will be at least one pile of dog poop. And usually you will step in it.

Exhaust is too hot for duct tape; Half of a soup can and some hose clamps would have done you justice, though
(Preferably steel or iron if you find either!)
BTW, the shower in my Mom's second bathroom had the knob break off, so I use channel locks...
