Guns vs. Doctors
Guns and Doctors
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is
700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians
per year are
120,000
(C) Accidental deaths per physician
is
0.171.
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of
Health Human Services.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Now think about this:
Guns:
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S.
is
80,000,000.
(Yes, that's 80 million..)
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
accidental gun deaths
per year, all age groups,
is
1,500
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
The number of accidental deaths
per gun owner
is
.000188.
Statistics courtesy of FBI
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
So, statistically, doctors are approximately
9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,
BUT
ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Please alert your friends
to this
alarming threat.
We must ban doctors
before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Out of concern for the public at large,
I have withheld the statistics on
lawyers
for fear the shock would cause
people to panic and seek medical attention.
a concerned
citizen
Enjoy...

Looks like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me. I don't believe all that for a second!
Either the statisitics are actually made up or they are like the old saying I love so much "There are two kinds of statistics, the ones you look up, and the ones you make up"
"Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171."
That means 17 out of every 100 patients a doctors sees, results in accidental death. You actually believe that? I've been to the Dr. at least 50 times in my life, with your stats I should have died 8.5 times all ready.
Also, without actually knowing I'd have to say there are more than 1500 accidental gun deaths per year, thats not even counting the purposeful gun deaths.

I think with the doctors they are taking an average of how many patients a doctor has die a year. Factoring in the elderly, accidental deaths and such yeah I can believe that figure.
Now with the gun stats. If they only factor in accidental shootings yeah that might be a ball park figure. Still sounds a little low to me though.

My math is not good but I don't think this is right. .171 is far less than 1.... If it were 1.71 you would be right, but its not.
Any math geniuses?

.171 is 17.1% remember converting decimals to percentile..... multiply by one hundred which means sliding the decimal point to the right two places and adding the "%" sign
