Have nothing against him. He does like to push the envelope though, and they are just pokin fun at it. He tempts fate every time he gets an audience. Unfortunately one day he will have to pay the piper. Everyone makes mistakes. I like Steve Irwin allot too.Just like the Southpark episode where they poked fun at him. I thought it was great, and also showed what kind of effect he has on young people. HE IS A BIG INFLUENCE ON KIDS. In a good way though. He is part of the reason I got started in snakes. My kids were watching him and asked if they can have a pet snake. Got the wifes approval and the rest is history.

Boa guy, get a sense of humor!!!!! I think you are taking Steve just a bit too seriously. oh, sorry, I guess he is your hero [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img] I hate to be the one to break it to you, but he is not a superhero. He is someone who knows how to get an audiance. NOONE in their right mind would handle snakes the way he does. NOONE tails a taipan in the bush with no equipment or lets it lick his face. In my humble opinion he does two things. He brings the world of dangerous animals into the average american's home (mainly watching to see if he gets bit) and they learn quite a bit. Second, he teaches that snakes can be handled in an unsafe manner. No matter how many times he says "don't try this at home" , it will happen. THis is not a movie, he tries to make it seem like he could me your neighbor, just an veneryday "bloch". It is only a matter of time before some kid dies tryingto tail a Western Diamondback, sayingthe whole time "Isn't she a BEAUTY, mom" He is goingto die from a bite, and it is going to be on tape [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif[/img]
"OH, how could he say such things about Steve?!?!?!" Let me say that I watch his show. I watch it for the wildlife. Between him, Jeff Corwin (whom I prefer) and Mark O'Shea, they offer mor education into herps than we have seen in a long time. I salute them for that. But like Corwin (who always has a hook handy) I think that steve should take some safety precautions, not only for himself, but the young viewers who watch him. ANYONE who works with venomous knows that you NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER handle hots the way steve irwin does. I have nothing against Steve Irwin, just his methods. Like I said, he has brought a great amount of understanding about herps to the general public. But for godsake!! Don't idalize him! If he is the judge of a role model, you would be better off sticking to Power Rangers!!!!
