So, when I received my Ikea catalog a month and a half ago, I saw an awesome item in the storage section. To me, it looked exactly like a snake rack. It was inexpensive ($40 for the rack, $2 each for the tubs), so I decided to see what it was like. My aunt was going near an Ikea and I asked her...

Re: My cheap Ikea-based rack.
I am assuming that if you want to give a temperature gradient to all the animals the same, including the ones in all sections of the dividers, then you would have to wire a strip of heat tape and attach it on the bottom on one side for each tub since it doesnt have a shelf below it to attach the heat tape to. Might make it slightly hard to remove all of the tubs and clean them, if they are attached to heat tape and cords. The more you accidentally yank on cords and connections, the more of a risk you have to just breaking it off and having to rewire [ive had to do this my fair share of times from when I used to wire 10 gallon tanks individually]

Re: My cheap Ikea-based rack.
I have two of these ikea-based racks and they are wonderful. I have had them for over a year and they are by far way better than the traditional racks because they are so easy to remove and clean. Plus, extra racks can be used as feeding tubs/storage. It's a great idea! The lids on each tub also give me a sense of added security and less chance of my snakes escaping. It's also really awesome because when you travel you can just take the tubs as they are.

Re: My cheap Ikea-based rack.
I have that exact same thing and bought extra bins for it and used one for my iguanas water dish and put some under my desk for storage it is a nice rack never even thought of using the actual rack for reptiles though
