Great Dual Thermometer/Hygrometer
Just thought I'd post this in here too. This is a great dual thermometer/hygrometer I picked up at K-Mart in the Home/Garden section (Thanks to the advice of BoaMan) It reads temperature on the unit as well as the temp at the probe you can place anywhere in your cage. The probe comes with plenty of wire for very large cages. My cage is 4x2x2 and it runs the full length with wire leftover. It also measures the humidity on the unit too. The bottom buttons allow you to see what the highest and lowest readings have been for each measurement (temp on unit and probe, and humidity) It's a must have and was $20. Here's a pic...

Oh and on a side note. I bought some velcro dots for it, because the sticky pads it comes with make it semi permanent if you stick it to the wall inside your cage (advised) so the velcro pads allow me to remove it for big cleanings and stick it back in when I'm done.
Also just an idea of how I use it. I put the unit on the wall on the cool side of the cage and run the probe to the hottest spot in the cage, under the substrate under the hide spot on the hot side of the cage. This way you get the temps on the hottest and coolest spots. It works great. Lemme know what you think if you get one!

This may sound odd. But be careful that your snake can't get to the probe cord...I had one buried under the substrate and my ball somehow dug it out and got tangled up in it. We had to cut it off. It left a pretty bad ring where it wrapped around him. I'm just glad I was home when it happened.

Cool. Except for the one who got tangled in the wire .... Well i have 2 my self BUT both are made by Radio Shack and one of them cos me $25 and has a 7 foot wire with it. Whot you MIGHT find with some of these that the wire only detects temp and not humidity there the unit it self detects both. BUT i don't need humidity reading at my hot spot but it came very use full running the wire to this point. And my other one is wireless and detects both hunisity and temp which you can have upto for lil units on it which i have it at the cool side as he\she is allways on the ground lol. BUT will set you back a sweet $50. BUT by chance i saw it in a second hand shop for $3 .. Add one units are a shocking $30 each BUT all are waterproof . I've been very happy about both of these items and would reconmend them to anyone. the $25 one has about the same display size as the in the picture above. and the other which you get 2 units the main unit has a MASSIVE display and you can monitor the the smaller unit anywere in the house .

Sounds cool AsRock, yeah, I haven't come across any that measure humidity at the probe, only on the unit. I wish I could run across one for $3 in a second hand shop!

My advice is to just get one of the little, cheaper circular humidity indicators. They're not as notorious for being inaccurate as the same kind of thermometers, and it's not quite as important that they're perfectly accurate. That way, you can monitor the humidity at the hot side too.

Yeah not a bad idea. But I had one of those round little zoomed ones and it was Terribly inaccurate, did I just get a bad one, or is that typical?
