Pine Substrate
I was wondering I got some Natural pine shavings for a substrate for my corn snake i was wondering will it cause any harm to him? I know it will cause digesting problems if indigested but will it give off harmful fumes like cedar? I always feed my snkakes seperatley so im not worried about him eating it.

I would say that pine would be ok. I don't think it is really fumes that are given off, but the oils in the wood, that are harmful.

as far as I know pine will not give off harmful fumes, but you are right that cedar will.

Aspen and cypress are ok...... dont use pine and cedar. It's not the fumes that harm the snake it is the oils in the wood.

Pine isn't near as strong as cedar, but still harmful. It just takes longer for the oils to do the dirty work...

I stand corrected. Sorry for the misdirection. I just never heard of anything bad or good about pine. Now i know.
