installing branches in Boaphiles

I've been planning on getting an arboreal Boaphile cage later this month, and I want to install branches. I know the cages come with perches, but I don't like the look of PVC, nor do I want to deal with burning it to create the natural look. I'm thinking of using eye bolts and hooks to fasten the branches to the sides. But, I was wondering if anyone who has ever installed branches in any type of plastic cage has any other ideas on installing them.

Hi Bry,

Here is a arboreal cage I made. I use a real wood branch in it. I drilled holes in the Plexiglas and used stainless steel screws to mount the branch. This way the screws will not rust. I also used a rubber washer with the screws.
One more thing if you like this one I can also make one for you if you would like. I can make them clear like this one or all white with clear sliding doors.

Take care.
Tom

Thanks Tom, that's a very nice cage there. I forgot to mention that I was wondering how you're supposed to know where to drill holes for the screws if the sides are opaque. The branches I was thinking of are the ones that have the screws already installed with the threads sticking out. That's why I've opted to find branches without the screws, and go for the eye/hook assembly. Out of curiousity, how much does a cage like that run for?

Bry

Hi Bry,

I would just measure the length of the branch you are going to use and see how it would fit in your cage.
Then when you no where you want it just mark the inside of the cage and drill the holes for the threaded screws.
If the cage is to small to get a drill In side of it just transfer your measurements to the out side of the cage.

I sell my arboreal cage for $349.00 + shipping. That is for the clear or white one.
It comes with one plastic tub, one heat mat with a rheostat, vents and one wood branch.
It measures. 23 1/4" long X 24 3/4" high X 16 3/4"deep. If you would like one just e-mail me.

Take care,
Tom

Just want to say, that is a very good looking cage. Simple, yet looks very solid.

If I ever have a need for one, you will be the first I contact
