Record Keeping?
I currently only document when my snakes eat, what size rat they eat. When they shed and how big they are after they shed. I would like to keep more detailed records on them. I was just wondering if you people could give me examples of their record keeping, layout, information they keep records of ect.

Re: Record Keeping?
There are several programs available online. Some of them keep all the data in one place, like iHerp (see my sig), and you can view other collections, their records, see/post classifieds... all sorts of things.
Some you download to your computer, such as Degei, Herp Care Software, etc.
There are many ways to keep paper records, too. First you have to decide how you want to keep your records, lol.

Re: Record Keeping?
I keep mine on good ol' paper, and then when I actually remember to, I transfer them to iHerp.

Re: Record Keeping?
Meals, sheds, and poops. That's all I do. I just have 2 snakes so I keep a notepad.

Re: Record Keeping?
I use iHerp.
I record cage cleanings, water changes, sheds (when they went in to blue, when they cleared, when they actually shed), defecations, and feedings (what they ate, and how many).

Re: Record Keeping?
I use a cheap calender and I just record when they eat and what they eat and sheds. I am not a breeder or large collector, so this works for my basic needs.

Re: Record Keeping?
3x5 index cards FTW. I record weights of rats above fuzzy size, when they're going opaque, sheds, winter cool down, and breeding info. I'm old school I guess, it's easier and more natural for me.
Old pic but you can see my index cards in clear sleeves on each cage, for breeding the cards are moved with the snake so I know who's with who.

.

.
I also can then draw pedigree trees cause I'm a dork like that

Re: Record Keeping?
I keep track of EVERYTHING, meals sizes and if it was easy or difficult, when Ven poops as well as where he does it, water changes and water bowl cleaning, spot cleaning and over haul cleanings, as well as when he start going into shed and when he finishes. I keep a book of everything cleverly named 'The Book of Ven'. I figure keeping track of everything lets me figure out patterns of behavior and if anything health wise happens I can look back and hopefully figure out where an issue started.

OH and I also keep track of high/low temps during breeding time on a calendar.
