Guess this lizard!
Ok, there's this lizard that employs a most unusual form of defence. When startled, they can shed their entire coat of scales in a moment, leaving on them nothing but bare skin. Their scales, of course, regenerate before long.
What lizard is this (common name and scientific name)? Where's it found?
I'm guessing someone's going to get it soon. I found this pretty cool! :P

a skink of some sort????? that would be my possible candidate off the top of my head... or also frog eyed gecko, or day gecko but they drop them in pieces.....

it's a gecko and it was in reptiles mag.... form madagascar... as for specific name *shrugs*

I guess there are probably a number of species that do that. The one I'm thinking about is a Madagascan gecko, but not day gecko or frog eyed gecko. Apparently this species sheds its coat totally. But yes, it's coat is similar to that of the frog-eyed.

Ok, clue: Its common name refers to the nature of its scales, which is unusual compared to that of other geckos.
