Well you've got me. I know there is some debate over the Calabar Burrowing Python really being a boa...but to my knowledge it is still classified as a python. I have to admit my curiosity is piqued.

If that's the answer, it's a bad joke.

There is a sand boa that lays eggs. EBV has the first recorded captive hatching of them.

I bet that is a calabar then. The arguement (if I remember correctly) is that they should be classified as sand boas. If you ask me; no dirty egg layer deserves to be classified as a boa.

Yep that's right michelle...
In the news section of Reptiles Magazine there is a small article on the sand boa. I believe it is the first hatching of this species.

No, Ted, NOT the Calabar It is the Saudi Sand boa... I THINK. I do know it is one of the other sand boas.

Oh well...I still haven't read that little article. I'll have to go grab my reptiles and read it. Actually oddities are always interesting. Very cool topic Jesse.

I have a better idea...howabout rethinking the classification of "sand boas" as boas. Sure they are a boid...but who's to say they aren't in their own class?
