Here is the time when we find out what you all REALLY know about hots.
Tell me what species each of these "Hot" pics are. A couple of the pics are actually of the same snake, so don't let that fool you. Good luck!
Snake #1:
Snake #2:
Snake #3:
Snake #4 (headshot):
Snake #4(full body):
Snake #5:
Have fun!

OK....here are my guesses....
1. Eastern Diamondback (one that's been sunbathing b/c it is very dark)
2. Timber Rattlesnake
3. Rattlesnake
4. A different rattlesnake than #3
5. The same rattlesnake as #4
6. A cobra
Even if my guesses aren't right, I still know enough that these are not snakes to play with while on a camping trip (I know, I know.....sighs of relief from the peanut gallery....)

Wild guesses, I will be surprised if I'm right:
1. timber rattler
2.not sure, the snake in the background makes me think copperhead, but the one in the foreground, I dunno
3.russell's viper
4.?
5.?

1. defiantely has the head of an Agkistrodon, but the pattern looks like a D acutis, nose looks too blunt though
2. Looks like a Timber (with a Copperhead int he background)
3. Palastine Viper?
4. Crotalus viridis
5. Definately an elapid. I would say Black pac cobra

Hmmm... I was correct in figuring that snakes 4 and 5 would throw people... I am just SHOCKED by how few people are getting snake #1.
I'll reveal the correct answers later today.

First one looks kinda like an ugly C. basilicus, hard to see the head shape though. I think we've come to an agreement that #2 is a C. horridus. Third one, I think is a russell's viper, or some closely related species. Not real familiar with Vipera. Fourth/Fifth one looks like a really ugly ruber in head shape, but the body pattern I'm not really sure. Last one... siamensis? sputatrix? Rinkhals? No idea.

1) looks like a really dark drab bushmaster to me with an agkistradon head...need a better photo.
2)Timber (not a canebrake) southern copperhead in the background
3) Russels viper
4 and 5) hmm stumped. I can see where Brian gets viridis...maybe...My first thought was Michelli but the head is all wrong...more like viridis...shrug...i agree with megan...it's a rattlesnake
6) could be any number of cobra species...unless it hoods up, it would be hard to tell...could be a black pak, a forest cobra, a black spitter or anything melanistic.

Is 4/5 a naturally occuring species, and not a hybrid, or a oddball color anomoly?
I wanted to say it was a sidewinder, but not crests over the eyes, it doesnt look like there is any viridis in it to me,
but I would buy it being a Crotalus cerastes, tigrinis hybrid.
Both small desert dwellers.
