Ever see the old gag at truckstops or giftshops...the little envelope labeled "rattlesnake eggs" with a rubberband and paperclip rigged to make noise when ya look inside. I rolled my eyes and informed a guy in a Cherokee NC giftshop that rattlesnakes don't lay eggs when I was 8 or 9. Anyway....Just how many "NewWorld" pitvipers do lay eggs?
name them.

I thought Lachesis was monotypical. How many different species are there?

That's subspecific, though. Are those subspecies granted specific status by some? Is that in revison now or anything? Just trying to satisfy my curiosity.

I'm just curious because you said ssp. but Julius said sp., and I'm curious whether it's because of conflicting opinions of taxonomists or what. I'm just confused is all.

ahhhhhh
They all have been dropped down to species level.
See that is what I get for living in a dark cave.
