Thanks!.. there's lots of lizards here in the yard, I do what I can to encourage them and don't use a lot of pesticides. The spiny lizards are probably my favourites, they are fun to watch and over time get very tolerant of people. Some will even take bugs and pink mice from me..

A lot of small common lizards don't live very long but these can live for several years.. I watched one female do everything (including lay eggs twice a year) for four seasons before she disapppeared. They dig test holes (or maybe decoy holes) before deciding on just the right place. At first all you see is the tail and hind legs and dirt and pebbles flying.. then they turn around and act like they're not there while laying their eggs.. Here's what that looks like..
