For avid snake hunters, what is the significance of 69 degrees latitude north and south that holds true as you circle the entire globe?

Seems like a good guess, but Anchorage, Alaska is located roughly at 61 degrees north and they have garter snakes I believe...but 6 degrees could make the difference...-

The Northern and Southernmost ranges of terrestrial snakes. Beyond those boundries conditions are accepted to be too extreme to support snakes.

It's the location of BWSmiths first "head in a Gopher torts hole"?

You won't find any snakes at the latitude. Just a guess.

Herpinhippster is close enough....Brian is dead on. Beyond 69 degrees north or south of the equator...Flipping tin is a waste of time.

Since there aren't any trees, maybe it's that you won't find any tree snakes?
