Shot this Rainbow on my travels.
He has a pronounced bump on top of his head between the eyes.
Is this normal for Rainbows?

That bump on its head reminds me of the dinosaurs that had a bump on their heads. I think they were Brachiosaurus or Bronchitis or something like that. Anyways, that's not typical in rainbow boas or any snake that I know of. Perhaps it's some genital defect or an old injury?

LOL, I realized my mistake while I was in the middle of submitting that previous post. I meant to say 'genetic defect' not 'genital defect'.

is that a E.c.crassus? nice find for sure!
I have seen bumps like that on wild snakes, and I have known it to be old injuries that have healed over (like Bry said), or subcutaneous worms of some type that are burrowed underneath.
I dont know of many parasites that choose the head scales (except mites and ticks) to hide under, but you never know.

I'm not real flash on my new world snakes yet ,Telefrag.
It's locale is Trinidad, West Indies, if that helps at all.
Couldn't see any scarring on it's head, could a cist or tumor
be a reasonable guess??

Bry, you make me laugh! We all know where your mind is now....
Ben, that's a cool pic! The eye is freaky.... kind of hypnotic looking.
