First Herping Trip of the Year
Since I had a rental car for the weekend and was down in Savannah, GA moving my grandmother out of her retirement home, I decided to try to find some new herping spots. All and all, I think they went through and cleaned up all the Tin  I decided to take one more back road before hopping ont he freeway to head home. Turned out to be a sweet spot next to an old cemetary down about 3 dirt roads. The further back I went , the more tin and abandoned buildings. I actually did not have my hopes up too much since the lows were in the low 40's and it was about 72 outside. Under the LAST piece of tin (in full sun), I found this beautiful Eastern Kingsnake. Not a bad start to the herping season since it was the exact species I was looking for.

Our temps have been going back and forth quite a lot so far this year, with last night supposed to be in the freezing range....

Great find Brian!
I am hoping things stabilize here too... two weeks ago it was in the 70's last week 50's, this week it looks like the low 60's.... maybe this weekend will pan out so we can get some herping in here.

Good to see your first herping trip had some better luck than mine. Mine got me into some tiny 100-people town named Miami, CO, a sudden-10 degree drop to about 52 with high winds, and not one single piece of tin to flip. Oh well, maybe when it gets warmer.

nice brian. i went out a couple of weeks ago but it wasn't too good. i have to work alot this weekend  but i can't wait to head back to the woods. pretty find!

ohh, nice find. joe and i have done that. thats when we found the pyg's. i wasnt expecting to find anything..but, maybe thats what i should do from now on. think to myself "i wont find anything, i wont find anything  "

lol, that is the exact opposite of what I did. I tend to talk to myself when I am working int he herp rooms or herping by myself (yeah, who woulda thunk it). I said out loud, "I don't need to find an Eastern, I just want a nice King."

good find id like to do that some time but id have to travel a waze cuz here in indiana there really aint that many snake that i know of there use to be some water snakes down at the lake but get this the city throws the snow from the road on the ice and when it melts all that oil and salt and antifreeze goes in the lake you dont even hear the bull frogs crocking anymore its a shame i was thinking of writing a letter to the epa telling what the city's been doing
