I am going down to Jacksonville in late Feb. and will have a little free time on my hands. It would be really cool to hit some swamps and do some looking around!! If anyone there lives around that area and would want to get together during my trip email me and let me know. If you know any good places to go PLEASE write me and let me know!! I am not looking to keep anything I find I just want to play!

Looking forward to hearing from people in the south!

Dude, stop and pick up all the gopher tortoises that seem to want to walk up and down the sides of 75,10, and 95. It's like they didn't get the memo that they are endangered or something ...sheesh.

Well, early Feb. is a little early cuz alot happens during the spring. But we have weeks where its in the 80's (like now, haha) and you're able to see alot. Step in someones back yard and you'll find alot of green anoles and cuban anoles and sometimes a nice colubrid. Stop off the sides of the roads and check the creeks and wooded areas. To see rattlers you can have someone take ya out to the boonies , but the best places are the Okefenokee Swamp about an hour north and the Everglades about 4 hours south. Have fun! The best time is Spring though!

Boaguy...thanks man...but I am looking for swamps and such to go root out wild animals. On top of that I don't want to drive the three hours to go to Orlando.
Jules..I will have a talk with them and set them straight while I am down there! I will have to round them up and explain the importance of their safety!!
Karen...Yeah just happen to be going for diffent reasons. The herp hunting will be an added bonus. I will check out the okefenokee swamps if at all possible. Thanks for all the advice!
I am still open if anyone wants to come along or let me tag along with them!

Man, you guys and gals are just so lucky. Try herping here in the UK and you'll be lucky to find a bloody frog! Also, you would probably be arrested for trespassing. We don't have the concept of land that nobody owns over here. somebody always owns it and doesn't allow trespassers on it.

I got mine (an orange phase) for 39.99. They still do have a pretty good selection, and at least they wont sell any animals that aren't feeding. Couple months ago they had 2 big burms, but now all they have is a retic that is about 6'
