Next Year's Camping Trips
OK, so it goes without saying that the Memorial Day Trip will be to South Georgia. That worked good for everyone last year and we had a great time. But at the end of the season, we had a couple of ideas for other trips, but we couldn't get things together in time to make it work out. I don't wanna see that happen again next year, and I feel it's a pretty safe bet y'all dont either. That said, how many other events would y'all like to try, and where would y'all like to go for the other trip(s)?
Frankly, with this much time to plan, I'm all for making the most of all the holidays and trying 3 trips, on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day, and trying some different areas as well. 3-Wolf seemed to have found a good spot up KY way, and Ed_r had an idea for a Southern IL trip. I wouldn't mind making a trip to FL either if that would work for anyone. You West Coasters are more than welcome to suggest something out that way too..
The point is, the further in advance we plan these, the better luck we seem to have. What are your thoughts on the questions I've raised

My thoughts are if we camp here, let's go to the "Land between the lakes" region. Lots of great tent camping as well as state park cabins, and I have heard there is some mighty fine herping.

I'm actually with Donnie on LBL...there are pygs there and the range of almost all other KY herps extends to that region. Of course, pygs in this region are rare...but that's the only place we will find them here.

I maybe able to swing the trip to the "Land between the lakes"
Let me know all the info and I will plan my vacation then.
My family can visit my mother-in-law in Tennessee when me and my older son are
at the camp out.
Take care,
Tom

Not sure where LBL is, But I'm game. Well I'm pretty much game for anything too. I still think Shawnee would be a sweet trip too.

I'm with Stormy, how about something in the NC/VA area? We have some good parks, and some cool herps!

I would personally like the LBL trip (if in fact we decide to do one there) to be sometime in the late year. September would be great. Babies are out and about and many of the snakes are putting on winter weight to prepare for brumation.

Don't any of you understand that we'll find way more herps down in my direction? I'm all for a FL trip. I'd love to meet you guys in person, plus the reptiles are here in HUGE numbers. I saw a baby sea turtle today at the beach with my girlfriend. He couldn't make it out through the rough surf, so I swam him out beyond the breakers. I felt so good, I gave the lil guy a chance.
P.S. FLORIDA TRIP

FL would be great, but that would make for one heck of a long trip for a lot of us!
What about NC around Fayetteville or Raleigh area?

Could one of y'all suggesting a NC/VA trip get some info together on where we might go?

On a related note I wonder if we could rally up enough people to do a Texas Camping trip.
I for one would love to visit East Texas and go camping/herpin

Florida has a lot of great spots, too, Babe. Try Manatee Springs in about November. It's chilly, but not cold, and the 'tees are enjoying the constant temps of the springs. I saw a mama and calf last time I was there, which has been way too long ago, come to think of it.
Or any of the sinkholes up in the forests of N. Florida.
Although after seeing pix of his recent trip, I say we take the next trip to Australia, go camping with BenSnacks for a while

Big ol BUMP!
How bout Carolina region for July 4, or the nearest weekend?
How many are interested in S. GA over Memorial day for sure? And should we look into a commerative T-shirt? This is one we should start getting ideas together on soon.
