Anyone interested in throwing together another camping trip real quick? Maybe somewhere between the apparent population centers of the Wild Herpers (NC & GA)? I need some time in the woods, this city life is makin' me soft.

How would everyone feel about KY? For those willing to travel 6 hours or so it is very central to many of us. We have a good park here that just built cabins so we could probably get into a cabin as well. The park is Otter Creek Park and it is right next to the Ohio River in Meade County.
Otter Creek Park
They have rock climbing in a quarry, canoe rentals for some tributary creeks and the like as well. If anyone is interested we could try to put something together for early fall?
If there is any response I will get right on planning since I'm fairly close.
What do you guys think?

Wow T-Wolf...that's far more organized than I had intended---I was thinking of just grabbing a case of beer, hooks and bags, and seeing where we landed...but your idea sounds good too.

Well I would really like to do something in this area just b/c there are so many people I would like to meet or see again that surround this area. If you ask me, it's all just a good excuse to drink beer and burn meat on the grill!
I'll start checking on prices...anyone have suggestions for a weekend?

That may be too soon for us to get adequately planned though, considering how long these things normally take...

hey T-wolf..I browsed their site a bit, but couldn't manage to stumble across prices. Would one of you locals mind calling and finding out?
Again, I'd like to note this was way more than I had in mind...but I could get over it. You sure you want to do this site now? This would be great for the spring trip, especially given the amont of planning that is required for getting everyone together at the same time. I was sorta hoping to just grab some gear and beer and head off into the woods to see what adventure found me. But, if everyone wants to do this trip now, I could go along with it. If this is what we're going to do though, one of the locals needs to get us some solid info quick, see about prices, availability, etc.

I could probably go for that one. Me and my wife have been wanting to go out on one for a while but can't really afford to travel. That's basically out back.

I will start gathering info on this rev. Let's wait and see how the money thing goes and if we can get people to show up. Time is precious this time of year. I thought about proposing this for the spring trip, but I think there are many of us with our hearts set on southern GA. again and all that fine herping down there. Rattlers, coppers, and idigos; OH MY!
I did learn something of significant use today. No one happened to mention this, but evidently coral snakes sometimes use gopher tortise holes for refuge. That would have been a nice bit of info to know before the last southern GA outing. THANKS GUYS!

Hey Ted...Pretty much every snake down there has been down a gopher tort hole at sometime or another. Sadly, that's why indigo's are so few and far between now. The rattlesnake roundup people pump gas down the holes to drive the rattlers out but the indigos just stay down there and die.

OK, bad news/good news scenario....
Bad News - between multiple weddings this month (This whole SUMMER), Herm's birthday coming up next week and a pending central air replacement, the Herrmann's are out of the game for KY.
Good news - if it is local, free, and painless we are in, so Rev, tell Dan to get some info back on this.
