Close to home.
Just knocked two more species of "What can I find in 30 minutes"
I never really thought I would see these so close, 10 minutes from my house.
Skiltons Skink, Eumeces skiltonianus skiltonianus
And a huge Western Yellow bellied Racer Coluber constrictor mormon found 30 minutes from home, this beast was haggered.
Just so people realize our western racers are nowhere near as big as the ones out East. A four foot animal is BIG.
Thanks for looking,
Nate

I've found tons of racers just none this close to my house. Finding them this close is pretty cool, same with the skiniks. I think it may take some tin to start finding Pituophis.

Re: Close to home.
Great finds!
The best "catch" is the young lady holding the racer without the use of a behind the head death grip.
Try holding one of our wild caught, warmed-up, black racers like that and you'd be pumping out plasma.

Re: Close to home.
LOL this one did a fair bit of bloodletting on me before it calmed down enough for her to hold. She'll give a little blood for the little guys though.
I guess these skinks are a pretty significant find. They haven't been found in this area for quite some time. It also opens up the possibility for other species of interest.
