Look at this!
.. I found this critter while I was out hiking today.. a spotted newt!

These things are practically impossible to observe in the field without specific information on where and when to look.. so stumbling across this guy out in habitat scores big for me...
.

Neat stuff.. I also encountered several snakes.. this one being the most photogenic..

ugh I think I need to go herping with you Gus, haha. we only found one snake last year, a racer I think, and the hubby freaked out when it ran at him and let it get away lol
